Remote Home Instruction
Remote Home Instruction is not online schooling or virtual instruction, but rather one-to-one or small group live instruction through video conferencing. It allows a teacher and student to interact in the manner they would in a traditional home instruction session, but safely from their own homes. During this COVID-19 Pandemic, First Children home instructors have been using this method to continue the home instruction services that we have been providing to the districts we serve with great success! We have been able to reach students whose anxiety is severe to the extent that it was interfering with typical in-home, one-to-one instruction.
We started this Remote Home Instruction service out of necessity to continue educating our current home instruction clients in a safe manner. It was unchartered waters for us, as well as the districts we serve, and to our surprise, we not only stayed afloat, we sailed! With this success, brings more opportunity; the opportunity to offer these services long after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Remote Home Instruction will allow us to serve the following student populations for whom in-person home instruction is an obstacle:
- Students who are immunocompromised
- Students with communicable disease
- Students who are out-of-town receiving medical treatment
- Students with severe anxiety that prevents in-person instruction
- Students in under-served areas in which the district struggles to find home instructors
All First Children Services Home Instructors are NJ state standard certified teachers who are content certified in all core subjects. First Children services is a Department of Education approved clinic and agency for public and nonpublic school home instruction.
